Hello dears,

This is an easy exercise that everyone can do.

1. In your opinion, what is the most beautiful foreign city?

2. Speak about the latest book you've read?

3. Do you have a 'favourite song'?

4. Is making presents important?

Go for it! with THE FORCE.

Hello!

Here is our first ANSWER!
Please, indicate possible mistakes and underline what you think is clumsy.

Speak about the latest book you've read.

The latest book l read is Yellowface, by Rebecca Kuang. It is the story of June, an ambitious, but unsuccessful, young writer. She had a friend, the brilliant Asian-American Athena. One day, June was the sole witness to Athena's accidental death. In shock, she left the apartment with a manuscript that she rewrote, finished and published under a Chinese-looking name. It was the story of Chinese workers in France during WW1. It was a bestseller, but many publishers and readers became suspicious and launched a hateful campaign against June, accusing her of stealing the story and maybe murdering its author. This, however, was not the main point. Surprisingly, they considered that you should not be allowed to write on Asian people if you are not one of them. I didn't like the book very much (recommended to improve your knowledge of American slang), but I found the story interesting, and very disturbing. Is this the future of literature?

... you can also say what you appreciated! for your help!

Hello!

Answer A, my comments: I only can see one mistake (the same for the 3 verbs, times consistancy?) ; I like the summary and the personal judgement, all clear and concise, with an open conclusion. Maybe I'll read it because I sometimes like to be "disturbed"

Hello dears:

No suggestions in green? [you may start with posting your 'green' version!]

Here are ANSWERS B:
please, indicate possible errors, and underline what you think is clumsy.

TOPIC 1: A gift has several reasons for being. A present can be given as a thank you for a service rendered, as a gesture of affection or in celebration of an event. A gift is something positive. Whatever it is, even if it is a simple flower, a cake or a small card made by yourself will always have a value. Even if the item offered is not to your taste.
A gift is proof that you are appreciated. IN MY OPINION that is very important. 85 mots

TOPIC 4 : BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE, I would choose Sydney.
First of all, what strikes you when you arrive is its dazzlinglight, even under the clouds.
Then there are the perfumes of the luxuriant tropical flowers. Not forgetting the songs of the multicoloured birds
I could also tell you about the glass and metal buildings next to the pink sandstone ones from the Victorian era.
And all this on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. 73 words

for your help!

Hello!

(I was waiting for the "green light")

Answer A

Maybe some other verbs could be adjusted in order to maintain the chronology (as it would have been in French), but I am not sure;

Hello!

for your indications and suggestions. Here's another answer!

Topic 2 : Speak about the latest book you've read.

The latest book I've read is « A catcher in the rye » ; the French title is « L'attrape-coeur », and it is as obscure as the English one. I found it a very powerful book. While reading it, I felt sometimes very depressed because the main character is so pessimistic about his becoming an adult and about the society in general. I would never have stopped reading it, but I was really relieved when I finished it. The narrator is directly talking to the reader ; so I was feeling very close to him and I was empathising with his suffering. But on the other hand, it was as though I needed to have my part in this narration, just to contradict all this pessimism and negative ideas. But of course I could not ! FROM MY POINT OF VIEW, that was the reason for these mixed feelings. 150 words

Indications of possible mistakes today and tomorrow. Suggestions in green on Monday morning...

Have a great Sunday.

I think I would change words… Play it safe: all his pessimism and the very negative ideas he develops… Rien n’oblige à aller utiliser « this », « these ».

-The difference between the most commonly used meanings of these two terms is: sympathy is feeling compassion, sorrow, or pity for the hardships that another person encounters. empathy is putting yourself in the shoes of another, which is why actors often talk about it.

‘The Catcher…’ is one of my favourite novels… For two very busy days, it follows Holden Caulfield, 16, who has just been expelled from school. Holden feels estranged from the world of adults and wanders through New York City for 2 days, till we finally learn that «he has fallen sick» , is safe in a hospital and will change schools…
Holden is not a pessimist…, not really… though he has very strong pessimistic streaks. He's just an adolescent, a young adult-to-be... (who had lived a serious trauma - his brother Allie's death - when he was a young boy.)

‘The Catcher’ was in the curriculum for « the Baccalauréat A Spécialistes » for 2 years a few years ago: a difficult book, because of the idiom used and the rambling ideas which were so difficult to follow... We worked through it for hours, and I loved it… I still know some passages of it by heart… It’s so striking! My young-adult-students found a (tempting) part of them in it. They understood both Holding’s roaming hesitations and rejections of the world of adults and his idealistic principles… As Holden explains in the key-passage of the book, he wants to be the one who saves little kids running in a field of rye… He wants to prevent them from falling from a cliff… he sees himself as a Saviour. His little sister Phoebe is fascinated by the mission Holden has chosen to fulfill. My students adored it…

Hello!

Thank you for the correction!

I would never have stopped reading it, but I was really relieved when I finished it. (I really don’t understand what you mean…

Hello early bird!

La première partie de ta phrase «I would never have stopped reading it » correspond tout à fait à «a page turner» .
