In/ synonym of fashionable
Message from nutmeg1906 posted on 02-10-2011 at 11:28:07 (D | E | F)
Hello,
I sometimes use the adjective “in” as a synonym of “popular and fashionable”
[e.g. Purple is the in colour this spring. / Exotic pets are the in thing right now. / Short skirts are in again. etc.]
Is it possible to use it in its comparative / superlative forms?
If so, could you please give me some examples?
Thank you!

Hi,
You would have to say 'more in' e.g. 'Short skirts are more in this year than last year', although it sounds a little strange. Perhaps ' more in fashion' would be better here. I wouldn't use the superlative. I would say 'the latest fashion'.
Best Wishes
