Hello,

Test about : there is and there are.
Could you please explain why in the corrected sentence it is written : There is a park and a cinema in the city and not There are a park and a cinema in the city ?

It's because the first noun is singular and the general rule is that agreement is always with the first noun when there is more than one. If you have a plural noun and a singular noun, the general rule is to put the plural noun first.

There are parks and a cinema in the city.
There is a park and a cinema in the city.
There are parks and cinemas in the city.
